When writing, we tend to trail on and on. Shortening your sentences can help readers comprehend the point you are trying to convey faster while saving time and effort.

These are the specific benefits of writing shorter sentences:
Readability – Shorter sentences can help readers understand the narrative much faster.
Build the tone – Through using word choice to build tone, a short sentence will be much more impactful.
To the point – Reduces the worry of extra words muddying the message.
Breakdown and thought – Shorter sentences allow readers more opportunity to pause and take their time.
Focus – Focusing on only one idea per sentence will reduce confusion for the writer and reader.
Engaging – Shorter sentences are more appealing to readers and grab their attention.
Adverbs and modifiers – Including these far more often than necessary dampens the tone.
Of course, I’m not saying don’t write long sentences. I mean to vary sentence length with a higher ratio of shorter sentences, as the result will heighten reader interest and willingness to re-read your writing.
